Latest jewelry trends of 2013
Fashion jewelry trends come and go faster than the wind blows, it seems. What is hot in jewelery one year isn't even in fashion the next. So, what are the current trends in fashion jewelry and where are things headed? Predicting the future in trendy looking jewelery is basically impossible to do. But, with that said we can take a look at where things seem to be headed.

The punk look is dying out. For many, this is good news and a blessing at that. It looks as if costume jewelry is becoming the new "in" look now. Sparkling jewellery that really stands out is becoming hot. The more glittering the better. Dazzling white stone jewellery are also making a comeback of sorts as the girly look is becoming more prominent today. Bracelets on both wrists that sparkle seem to be fashionable as well. Fashion jewelry that isn't in right now includes large chains, toe rings, nose rings and big earrings. Small chains are fine, and always will be for that matter. White seems to be the color of choice. Classic styles such as single stone earrings and pendants are always in fashion. The same can be said for heavy traditional kundan type sets for party and wedding occasions. White or black artificial pearl jewelries are also popular in single strand necklaces or earrings. While not as dazzling or sparkling, imitation pearls always give someone a chic look and appeal. This is where we are currently in the fashion jewelry world. But, if this is not your style just wait a little as things will undoubtedly be different by this time next year. Jewelry trends span many styles and themes.

1. Medallions
Medallions will be on the top of shoppers’ lists. Look for versions with floral motifs, intricate carvings, filigree work or personal engravings. Grand scale medallions pair well with long thick chain link necklaces in gold, platinum or sterling silver. More petite medallions look fresh suspended from brightly colored gemstone necklaces, chains set with diamonds, “diamonds by the yard,” or a strand of pearls.

2. Charms Charms are back. Women may choose sweet subtle trinkets in lieu of bracelets chock full of hearts and stars. New styles include: tiny treasures hung from hoop earrings; charms clustered on top of rings; stationed charm necklaces with unmatched charms; and very long chain link necklaces with one, two, or three charms which fall far into the décolletage.

3. Glamorous earrings
A sprawling array of important earrings graced the red carpet this season. The earring evolution has come full circle featuring chandeliers, long linear, drops, “threaders,” and ear hugging versions. Although all of these variations will have a place amidst the fashions this season, the newest style on the ear frontier is the embellished hoop with charms.

4. Cocktail rings
The fascination with cocktail rings continues focusing on cabochon cut or seemingly uncut gemstones. Designers are using antique looking or organic gemstones, rose cut diamonds (or gemstones) and crystal-like formations. More traditional styles still look fabulous when they feature richly saturated gemstones, and special metal smelting techniques. Also look for colored gemstones in pink and green including: pink sapphire, pink and green tourmaline, peridot and tsavorite or green garnet.

5. Cuff Bracelets

Sleeves get cropped and skin is exposed leaving room for cuffs to be stacked up the arm. Some stand out styles include bracelets that: expose some skin; use organic materials like wood; mother of pearl; shell and moonstone; have strong details like grommets in gold; feature feminine flower carvings or use special materials like platinum and diamonds, which are ideal for glitzy occasions.
Accessories are a key look this season, as well as a great way to update any wardrobe. And a number of both fresh - and timeless - jewellery trends are emerging on the market to help you do just that. A few of the hottest trends this season include right hand rings, cocktail rings, charm bracelets, vintage style jewellery, circle jewellery and layered jewellery.

However, aside from retaining an unfailing fashion-ability, jewellery is about stating who you are - just look to the defining jewellery trends of iconic and alluring stars like Marilyn Monroe and Ava Gardner. That said, even today, there's no better place to uncover the latest jewellery trends than on your favourite celebrities. Jennifer Lopez and Drew Barrymore, for instance, love the layered jewellery look, while the likes of Jennifer Anniston, Cameron Diaz, Kiera Knightly and Paris Hilton have all been seen sporting circular jewellery - or more specifically, the 'circle necklace'. Moreover, jewellery trends tend to outlive fashion trends - so your jewellery will dazzle season after season.

The right-hand ring jewellery trend, for example - a trend by which women buy diamond rings for their right hand - represents women's independence and empowerment. The trend has been big in the US for some time, but is making its way over to the UK this season. Another variation of this is the cocktail ring. Every fashion-conscious woman is wearing one: they're big, bold and colorful, and are generally worn on the right hand. And while cocktail rings can be crafted out of diamonds, they're most often big gem stones or prominent statement pieces. Bracelets form another large category in this season's top jewellery trends. Wooden bracelets, for example, are making a big comeback; however, other bracelet trends seem to hold an incessant gaze in the jewellery market. One trend that's always in style, the charm bracelet is a simple yet fun way to accessorize. You can buy them already assembled, or you can purchase a linked chain, collect your charms, and make your own, distinctive charm bracelet.

Certain styles of jewellery - such as vintage - are also expected to maintain their appeal this year. Classic vintage jewellery always holds some part of the jewellery market limelight; it captures the spirit of the 1950s, featuring modern interpretations of vintage classics which will, in time, become classics themselves. Stylish and timeless, heirloom vintage pieces will never go out of fashion.

Circular jewellery is another prominent component of this season's defining trends. The circle, perhaps the simplest of all shapes, is an endless symbol of love and life; circular jewellery is therefore a perfect way to celebrate a big step or a turning point in your life. Another major trend in the US, the circular design is particularly popular in the form of the 'circle necklace' - a necklace with a circle pendant, often decorated with diamonds.

And finally, layered jewellery is strong this season! Layering is about wearing many of the same type of pieces at the same time - a particularly strong trend with yellow gold jewellery. And if this approach to jewellery seems a little heavy-handed to you, rest assured that layering needn't look heavy or overdone - just as long as the right pieces are layered together. So don't buy one necklace, bangle or bracelet this season - buy five!

You'll find a number of jewellery specialists who prioritize and recommend the latest and most classic jewellery trends - so you can take your pick and accessorize - whether it's to update your wardrobe or simply complement your distinctive style.

Jewellery has been an exquisitely cherished fashion accessory for many years. In ancient times, it was believed that jewellery was helpful to ward off evil spirits. It was also a status symbol indicating the position of the persons standing in the community. During the course of time jewellery has become a sought after fashion accessory in every persons wardrobe.

Trends for 2008:
Classic costume jewellery will be the hot fashion for spring and summer of 2008. The color that would be in demand will be blue. Blue topaz and aquamarine jewellery will be the most sought after ones. Followed by blue, will be the hue of purple lending popularity to amethyst, with green adding more value to peridot gemstones. Jewellery items with blue jade, blue opals, moonstones, sapphires, lapis lazuli, and handmade lamp work beads in blue will be the charm of the season. Counterpoint color for purple will be gemstones like citrine, yellow topaz, amber, and canary diamond jewellery.

Sterling silver with paramount cubic zirconia will be considered as an alluring substitute for diamonds. Cubic zirconia is the worlds premium diamond alternative. Combined with sterling silver, it has a warm look of white gold or platinum and possesses a rich look of a diamond. Diamonds will always have its importance and demand, but the prices are real budget busters, and may not always suit the consumers resources. The same jewellery, done in cubic zirconia and sterling silver will have an elegant look, and can be purchased at a fraction of the price. Cubic zirconia will be inevitable in every jewellery collection.

Fall trends for 2008 also include Greek and Latin black. Black onyx, simulated black diamonds, and classic black pearls will be the perfect accessories that never go out of style, and the upcoming season will see this classic color creating ripples in the world of jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets and earrings in layers is in trend this season, combined with unusual smaller shapes on top of larger pieces of silver, copper, or gold. Antique look is always popular during the fall and winter months. Teardrop stones in all sizes and color will be in craze. Gold and silver earrings with an inlay of turquoise or mother of pearl and silver hoop earrings with cultured freshwater pearls hanging in the center will find its way into the fashion world.

Bridal Jewellery:
Tungsten rings and jewellery has become the hottest and fastest growing trend in jewelry segment because of it unique and intriguing appearance, durability and cost. Titanium rings and titanium jewelry are also quite durable, yet extremely lightweight and comes in traditional titanium color or the popular black titanium. It is also is hypoallergenic and hence is ideal for people with sensitive skin.

Bride Grooms Ornaments: Tungsten Carbide Watches along with tungsten rings, platinum, or titanium rings will create a bold and classy look as carbide works with any style of jewellery.

Brides Jewellery: Traditional heart pendant with the new vibe of titanium fashion and diamond heart necklaces will be in vogue. Titanium is creating waves both in quality and price topped with a stunning look. Despite the fact that metal colors are always a popular fashion for brides, cool tones of titanium and tungsten jewellery would also make a charming appearance.

The global market for gems and jewellery today is US$ 85 billion with key markets having an average compounded annual growth rate of 5-10 per cent in the last decade. Some jewelry trends will move on to become classics, while most others will be passing fads that may be out of style a year from now. The trick is to pick classic designs that will stand the test of time.
